The River Tour is around 90-120 minute tour that starts at the farm. We follow an old road and cross a small river (Eyjardalsá) close to a small but very beautiful waterfall, Eyjardalsárfoss.
Then we cross the road and follow ancient sheep paths that has been formed my sheep walking the same route for hundreds of years along Skjálfandafljót, one of Icelands biggest rivers. We then cross an arm of Skjálfandafljót and ride along soft grassy paths ideal to try out the Icelandic Tölt, the unique gait, that is the Icelandic Horse is known for.

The tour can be made shorter if requested, but we’ll have to stick to the regular price.

The tour is suitable for beginners, before we start the tour our guide will explain the basics of how to ride a horse and what to do and what not to do. We also recommend reading the information available on the site of MAST, the Icelandic food and veterinary authority. Protect the Icelandic Horse

The tour crosses rivers so boots or waterproof hiking shoes is recommended. We have an assortment of boots that you can borrow for the ride.

Young and unexperienced children must be accompanied by an adult during the ride. Children with previous riding experience can ride alone if they can speak to the guide (Icelandic or English, some of our guides also speak German). Children riding alone have to pay the price of an adult.
